Let me share some figures with you:
Global Population: 6.7 Billion
USA Population: 307 Million
Peru Population: 30 Million
Arequipa Population: 1 Million
It is easy to spout off the numbers of people around the world. It is easy to just think of them as a number in a distant land not having an identity, a family or hobbies. It’s easy to think that they are just part of a mathematical equation and not just like us.
My brother, Chris, preached a message about 5 years ago and one small phrase impacted me, along with everyone else in the room, “NUMBERS HAVE NAMES”. We need to be careful in our thinking about the mission field and people that need Christ. It is more than a number, it is a soul that Jesus Christ gave his life for.
Let me put a face to these numbers:
Jessica Corimanya Pachari was a 16 year old young lady who was standing at her bus stop on Thursday, getting ready to go to school. As a tractor trailer was heading down the road, a public transportation bus cut him off. The truck tried to stop but could not and ran through the bus stop on the corner. Jessica was run over by the back wheels of the truck and died moments later.
Jessica was 3 months pregnant.
I ask you to take into consideration how God would use you to reach people with the gospel. Real people with real problems with real needs. Don’t turn a blind eye and a deaf ear, but ask God to enable you to serve His purposes.
Please pray for Peru! That the gospel would be preached, that people would come to Christ and that He would be glorified in the lives of the Peruvian people.
